This session aims to illustrate changes in the scope of the pharmacist, to discuss the role of pharmacist in patients’ self-medication, and, through examples, to empower pharmacists to implement change in their practice setting. Through case studies, this session will explore new and emerging roles that pharmacists are fulfilling and describe how the challenges faced in the course of this journey have been navigated. Faced with the opportunity of expanding scope, it is vital that pharmacists continue retooling themselves for the ever-changing landscape of healthcare in order to maximise their potential contribution to supporting patient care.
